Sustainable and with a high creative impact the tests “IL PORTO DELLA DIVERSITÀ
for the future that upset the identikit of the historic city of ACCOGLIE L’ARTE.”
Rijeka, named for 2020 as the European capital of cul-
ture, a title that it shares with the Irish Galway. Between
past and future, the Croatian city is transformed, rede-
veloping spaces and projecting itself towards a new
chapter. Italian from 1924 to 1945 and then moved to
Yugoslavia, Rijeka-Fiume today deserves the name of
port of diversity, for the rich cultural program develo-
ped on the occasion of the celebrations as the capital
of culture. An agenda of events that will enhanci its
chameleon-like character, which can be fully grasped
by admiring its prof le that sinks into the Adriatic Sea,
from the top of the hill overlooking the historic center.
Streets, squares, theaters, museums and new places
of culture invite interaction. Disused buildings such
as the former Exportdrvo, a large building converted
into an artistic pole, alongside entire neighborhoods
such as the area of the former Rikard Benčić factory
are converted into citadels of culture, as well as the
seafront home to f fteen installations from every corner
          of the world.
