Forget about 5-star resorts and hotels. The last frontier in terms of luxury travel is called Glamping. Fusion
of two terms apparently in antithesis - “Glamor” and “Camping” - this word contains not only a trend, but a
new way of understanding the outdoor holiday, combining the pleasure of outdoor life and the comforts of
the classic living room in hotel. The protagonist is the tent - as in the more traditional of campsites - tran-
sformed into a real mobile “home” with king-size beds, wardrobes, mirrors and a private bathroom with a
shower or Jacuzzi.
An alternative form of hospitality born some years ago in the United Kingdom and already very apprecia-
ted all over the world - just think of the safari lodges in South Africa or the hanging curtains hanging from
the branches of trees in the woods of Brittany - which is also taking hold in Italy : from the Dolomites to
the coasts of Sicily, there are numerous places that have decided to focus on the Glamping, guaranteeing
their guests a full immersion in nature in comfort and design, but also functionality and environmental su-
stainability.
